Our Research Division works to generate evidence that informs policy and practice in Kenya and globally. We focus on evidence-based research and implementation science in the following areas:

  • HIV & AIDS Behavioral Research

  • Biomedical Research

  • Community Health Systems Strengthening

  • Gender-Based Violence Research

Since its inception in 2003, Impact Research and Development Organization (IRDO) has:

  • Successfully conducted more than 30 research projects

  • Published over 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts

  • Delivered more than 100 presentations at local and international conferences

The evidence generated by IRDO’s research has significantly shaped policy frameworks, guided program implementation, and contributed to the development of training curricula, standard operating procedures, and information, education and communication (IEC) materials.

As we continue to grow, our Research Division is expanding its focus to emerging public health and development challenges, including:

  • Digital health innovations for service delivery and data use

  • Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, and cancers

  • Climate change and health, with emphasis on community resilience

  • Youth and adolescent health, including mental health and sexual reproductive health

  • Health systems research to strengthen equity, efficiency, and sustainability

Through these priorities, we aim to generate actionable evidence that not only shapes national and global policy but also empowers communities to achieve lasting health and development outcomes.
