Conducting research has been the core of the IRDO business since its inception, and so far, it has undertaken numerous high-visibility research studies on HIV/AIDS. The research division has conducted over 30 studies 7 are currently ongoing. The division has also participated in over 11 conferences (national and internal) and published 76 manuscripts.
In 2022 the division hosted the RHAY Youth Conference in Kisumu, Kenya
Programs Impact
This division has implemented intervention programs/projects targeting the prevention, care, and treatment of three diseases: HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis. During the 2013-date period, IRDO has implemented 16 programs targeting the three aforementioned diseases in 13 counties of Kenya. During the period, IRDO contributed to the national and global fast-track goals of ensuring that 95% of the HIV-infected persons know their status, 95% of those identified are initiated on ART and 95% of those on ART attain viral suppression.
From 2001 to date, IRDO has grown steadily, with the beneficiary focus cutting across adolescents, young girls and boys, women and adult men, widows, and Key Populations (KPs) [including Female Sex Workers (FSWs), Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) and People Who Inject Drugs (PWIDs)] with the main focus on HIV prevention and sub-focus on HIV care and treatment and on Malaria and TB prevention and management
