ASHES -Study
Title:
Understanding the relationship between adolescent socioeconomic status and sexual risk behaviors in Kisumu, Kenya (the Adolescent Sexual Health and Economic Study – ASHES)
Purpose:
To understand how adolescents and young adults conceptualize social and economic status
(SES) and how it relates to sexual behavior
Objectives:
- Explore how adolescents and young adults conceptualize socioeconomic status
- Explore the pathways through which various markers of SES are linked to behaviors that increase HIV risk (i.e. transactional sex, multiple sexual partners, condom-less sex).
- Identify the type of economic interventions AYA are interested in participating in

Cross-sectional study design
Population:
Adolescent and young adults (AYA) aged 15-24 years, primary caregivers of AYA
Study Site:
Impact Research and Development Organization, Kisumu, Kenya
Duration:
6 months
